The Way The Cookie Crumbles

Your cellphone rings. You take it in your hands and look at the screen. Your Caller ID flashes a big ‘unknown caller’ at you.

What do you do? Do you pick it up or just let it ring?

I choose not to pick up.

The problem with unknown callers is that their number is withheld. You can’t call them back. And in my case; they never leave a voice mail message.

Do you want me to pick up? Don’t withhold your number. Do you want me to call back? Leave a goddamn message with your number.

Sure if it is important they will call you back; but the screen flashes ‘unknown caller’ yet again.

*grumble*

Oh yes, here we are again. Another Dental File. Today I went for my second appointment at my own dentist. The nerves were slightly less then last time but the annoyance of going to a dentist where at its highest.

Today he decided not to put a permanent filling in the tooth that had the root canal, but he decided to work on the broken tooth I had on the left side and a small hole I had on the tooth next to it.

It seems like a good time to resurrect this little item on the blog, seeing as there are a couple of good news items today.

I will try to get this up a little more often, and perhaps instead of every day, just do it every other day, or once a week and have a round up of the best news items

Marion Jones returns Olympic medals

NEW YORK (CNN) — Disgraced track star Marion Jones has returned her Olympic medals after pleading guilty to lying to federal agents about her use of steroids, U.S. Olympic chief Peter Ueberroth said Monday.

“For the record we have received three gold medals and two bronze medals from the attorneys of Marion Jones,” Ueberroth, the chairman of the U.S. Olympic Committee, told reporters in Colorado Springs, Colorado. — (read full story)

A couple of days ago I reported that because of a scare I had a week or so ago, I had to pay a visit to the doctor to get my blood tested and do an ECG. After I had done so, they told me that I could call the doctor Thursday afternoon for the results.

I called the doctor Thursday afternoon, only to hear a machine talking that unless it was an emergency that I should call back the next day. Crap.

I called back the next day in the morning and the assistant told me that the Doctor would call me back during the Phone Hour, which is basically the doctor calling you back. She didn’t know when he would call back, but that he would.

Again I had to wait until afternoon before I finally got my call. The blood results were, despite the weight issue, very surprising to say the least. They tested Sugar, Cholesterol and (I believe) the Thyroid Gland.
