The art of having a cold

Stuffy nose, difficult breathing, blowing your nose every 10 minutes, breathing through the mouth while you’re a nose breather. According to various sources; the way to breathe is via your nose because it filters the air that goes in. Not to mention it is much more accepted then mouth breathing (damn right. I don’t need no one breathing on me like that).

Excessive mouth breathing is problematic because air is not filtered and warmed as much as when inhaled through the nose, as it bypasses the nasal canal and paranasal sinuses, and dries out the mouth.

I know every painfully dried out detail of this. When I get a cold, I get the whole shebang. All my sinuses are filled up with mucus and I am forced to breath through my mouth. That in turn dries out my throat, irritates it and before I know it, I am over and done and I won’t be any good for at least a week.

This time I have to thank Mark and his niece. Mark already had a slight cold, which turned worse (you might have read that in Mark’s blog) and his niece (who lives two doors down and I’ve visited a couple of times) also has a cold. That means a double whammy for me.

The only good thing about this whole cold thing, when Mark still had it, was that he did not snore. Now he’s back to the snoring again.

Does anyone have any tips against the snoring?

Does anyone have any tips on getting rid of a cold, or relieving some of the pressure that’s on my sinuses?

I know it has been a while since I posted anything, but I just did not feel like it. I know I need to post a ton of stuff that happened and I will get to it. I am already writing it up and I will post them soon.
