Waiting In Line…

… Hoping it would not rain. That was what I was doing about 4 and a half hours ago. Today was passport day. Get to City Hall, put in a request, get back home. That’s a simple enough task isn’t it? Not.

With these new passport requirements my old photo simply was not good enough. Reason: It had a white background. Yes, it had a white background. That’s it. The alignment was perfect, my mouth was neutral (can’t smile, can’t show teeth, but ya can grin!), I looked perfectly at the camera…. but the background was white.

So the lady behind the counter told me to go to a photo booth that was just across the street and man operated. And that is where I ended up in the line. Outside, where it was windy, it looked like it could rain any second, but was friggin’ humid.

Makes a great conversation topic with girls though. There was a cute girl next to me in line. We talked weather, annoyances of lines and had a couple of ‘you so know what I’m talking about‘ moments. We even got to go in the booth together and shared a laugh. Yes. I know. I should use my skills and go out to a bar or something. It would be so much easier to date people if they’d only be interested in my social skills.

Little Sleep = Grumpy Chantal

Christ! This is just unbelievable. Went to bed last night at a, for me, normal time of 2AM-ish. Guess what time I woke up this morning; you guessed it: Way to friggin’ early. I did not even woke up to my own internal clock, but to the sound of the idiotic drainage system that decided to turn itself on at 8-ish in the morning. Usually when  the system turns on it’s a slight buzzing, most of the sound will not go through the door. This time it was different; it sounded like someone was drilling a hole in the friggin’ floor.

I got out of bed and checked why it was making such horrid sounds; didn’t find a damn reason why it would. I just went to the bathroom, then waited for the system to drain all the water and went back to bed. End to the story you’d think… guess again. A mere ten minutes later I hear music coming through the ceiling of my bedroom. Great, the people upstairs are awake too. *sigh*

After half an hour I just gave up, hauled my ass out of bed and got somewhat dressed (need to change pants). Decided to check my e-mail before going grocery shopping. And that, ladies and gentlemen, brings me to my next point: Yahoo Mail.

It takes 1-5 seconds to normally load a page on my connection (any page) and on a bad day it takes about 10 seconds. Yahoo Mail takes at least 2-3 minutes. I don’t know which one of you has the same problem, or if you even have the same problem as I do, but Yahoo Mail does not load fast at all. The left center, where the menu is, loads perfectly, 10 seconds or less. The rest is what takes so long.

Do not even get me started on the damn ads that are displayed on the right side. If that decides to load up first; I know I am in for the long haul. There is an option to shove the ads to the side and out of view, which makes the rest load a tiny bit faster. But there the thing where you 1. have to wait for the ads to finish loading, 2. it does not even matter because when you click on a link to open your Inbox or any other page, the damn ads start loading up normally again.

User friendly my ass. Even Hotmail loads up faster then that.

I’m going grocery shopping, get myself something yummy to eat.
