The Way The Cookie Crumbles

Apparently Alcohol is not that bad at all. Especially when they let a ten-year-old buy it. I went to the store a little while ago, and I was nearly done with packing up my groceries when I noticed that same ten your old girl whom I mentioned in an earlier post. And again she was buying a can of beverage; except this time it was with a higher concentration of alcohol then the one she wanted to buy the last time. So naturally you would expect that the cashier would tell the kid she couldn’t buy it.

She didn’t. She knew the child.

The child made a big “Whoo, I can actually buy it this time” statement. (Yes she actually said that, except you know in Dutch). The cashier did absolutely nothing. And all I could think was what just happened here? and I wanted to say something so fucking bad, but was just to dumbfounded to do so. By the time I had my thoughts collected the child and the cashier were gone (change of shift).

When I got home I started thinking about the previous time that this happened with girl and them remembered the cashier. The Cashier in the previous occurance was a young woman (and young man who told the Cashier that the kid couldn’t buy the beverage), and probably no older then 25.

The cashier this time was well over 45 and should have known better. Even if she knew the child; the Cashier should have known better. Not to mention the policy of the store that prohibits them from selling any kind of alcoholic beverage no matter how low the percentage to anyone under 18 (or 16, not sure if that is changed yet). And this girl was well under that age.

I hate it when people get stupid like that.
